Pride in craftsmanship has long been a hallmark of our historic company. Our printing processes range from state-of-the-art equipment to 100 year old presses. These rare old presses in the hands of our highly skilled craftsmen produce beautiful painterly effects that cannot be duplicated by modern printing techniques. The heritage of Wallquest Inc. goes back to the 1820’s. The Lafoy family of Lyon, France have been involved with wallpaper from that time until the present. In 1938 Henry Lafoy founded a wallpaper business which was titled Consortium du Papier Peint. This company pioneered many developments in wallpaper, the most important of which was truly permanent printing or inalterable wallpaper. The name of the company became Inaltera S.A. (inalterable).
Today Wallquest is one of the most innovative wallpaper manufacturers in the world. Quality, color and design, product innovation and unwavering dedication to tradition have earned the company a respected place in the global home furnishings sector. Its products are made in the United States and sold in more than sixty countries. In 2011 Wallquest was named as the Small Business Exporter of the Year by the US Export Import bank.
The company is now family owned and operated just like Henry Lafoy would have liked. In 2008 Wallquest introduced the Eco Chic™ wallpapers. Eco Chic™ papers are designed to have as little impact on our shared eco-system as possible. The process begins with selecting our sources of paper from suppliers who use only pulp from well-managed renewable resource forests or recycled resources. As of June 2010 Wallquest is using only paper from FSC® Certified sources for our wallpaper collection.
